HE DIDN'T HAVE TO GO
Calvary was his choice. It was a gut wrenching personal decision he wrestled with among the Spring flowers of Gethsemane's Garden. He didn't have to go!
The aromatic sweetness of a light evening breeze caught the fragrance of new blossoms and sprinkled their delightful odors, like rose petals, at Jesus' feet. An orchestral symphony of evening voices rose in a crescendo of praise to the creator. Chirping crickets and boisterous katydids exuberantly flung themselves into the harmonious cacophony of sound. It seemed that all of creation was acutely aware that on this evening, decisions would be made that would carry eternal consequences.
And there was that haunting possibility that Christ would choose to let creation fend for itself. He could walk away from the whole filthy thing and let the havoc wreaked by Satanic interference run its course. He could let everything living, die off. He could save his own skin and let the world perish in its sin. After all, he didn't have to go!
Then, the sweet lips of Love pressed against his ear. In quiet whispers, she tenderly urged him on. She was delicate. She was gentle. She was relentless. He capitulated. She reminded him of what his heart already knew. He loved too much to walk away. He cared too much not to climb Calvary's brow and anoint that old killing hill with the blood that would save all creation.
He didn't have to go...But he did!
"Rom 5:8...But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Jesus Crist died on the Cross of Calvary, because He “Saw the Possibilities” in YOU!
THE YEAR OF POSSIBILITIES!
